Our Story

We're Vinay and Galen, co-founders of Spotr.
We met as college classmates at Harvard, where we built the first version of Spotr in 2022.
After graduating, we worked together in big tech for 2 years before quitting to build Spotr full time in June 2025.
We believe everyone should have access to a world-class fitness coach that listens, learns, and adapts.

Personalized strength coaching changed my life
— Galen
Growing up, I was always a skinny kid and I struggled to build muscle. I went to the gym often, but never saw much progress.
That changed when I got recruited to play soccer at Harvard. I put on 25 pounds of muscle in 3 years.
The secret? I was a Division 1 athlete, which meant access to world-class strength coaches, all the time.
After college, I had two options:
- Hire a personal trainer – $500/month, awkward scheduling.
- DIY – hard to design and stick to a plan, even harder to know if it's working.
I chose DIY. Over the next two years, I tracked 500+ workouts across the most popular fitness apps.
Still, my progress plateaued. I missed the personalized coaching and structured programming I had in college.
That's why Vinay and I built Spotr - it's engineered to closely replicate the experience of working with an elite human personal trainer. We want to bring the coaching I had in college to everyone.

AI helped me tackle my toughest health challenges
— Vinay
Last year, I herniated 3 discs in my back.
A year of pain, sleepless nights, and frustration. Epidurals, spine specialists, endless scans and physical therapy didn't move the needle.
I hid grimaces behind smiles with friends and I laid on the floor between Zoom calls at work.
At my lowest, it wasn't a particular doctor or mobility routine that saved me.
It was ChatGPT.
I used it to learn, question, and experiment. I designed my own protocol, turning the best information and advice out there into programming built for my body and goals.
Taking control of my recovery got me pain-free and helped me rebuild strength.
We know first-hand that agency and control over your health is everything. We want to empower gym-goers to take control of their training: track, iterate, and progress towards their goals.
Try it out and let us know what you think!
